Ingredients for 12 servings:
- 12 slices of toast (wholemeal toast)
- 12 slices of salami
- 6 slices of ham
- 12 slice(s) cheese, (Grünländer herbs go well)
- 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
- 1 bell pepper(s)
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 clove(s) garlic
- Parsley, frozen
- salt and pepper
- Paprika powder
- olive oil
- 1 cup water, hot
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes
First dice the peppers and tomatoes, then finely chop the onions and garlic. Heat the olive oil in a pan, add the peppers, tomatoes, onions, and garlic, season, and add the parsley. Fry thoroughly until slightly mushy. Then add the tomato paste and mix well. To make a sauce, add a little water (I always do this by taste, but it shouldn’t be too runny; whisk in about a cupful of hot water). Bring to a boil briefly. Arrange the slices of toast on a baking tray and spread a little sauce on each slice (you can make it a bit thicker). Cut the ham in half and place half a slice of ham on each slice of toast. Then add a slice of salami, and finally place the slice of cheese on the toast. Place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) until the cheese has melted and browned.
