Plaice fillet in cheese breading with garlic mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g potatoes, floury, peeled
  • 25 g flour, smooth
  • 1 egg(s), size M
  • 30 g Parmesan, grated
  • 45 g wholemeal breadcrumbs
  • 2 plaice fillets
  • 60 ml rapeseed oil
  • 125 ml milk, hot
  • 20 g butter, soft
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lemon(s)

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Dice the potatoes and cook with a little water for about 20 minutes until tender. Meanwhile, in a shallow dish, mix the flour with a little salt and pepper. In a deep dish, whisk the egg and mix the cheese with the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Cut the lemon into wedges, rinse the fish fillets with cold water and pat dry. Drain the cooked potatoes and mash them with a potato masher. Stir in the milk, garlic and butter. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg and mix well. Coat the fillets in the flour, egg and cheese crumbs. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the fillets until golden brown on both sides. Drain on kitchen paper. Serve the fish with a lemon wedge and the garlic mashed potatoes. A green salad goes well with the fish.
