Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast, fresh
  • 60 g sugar
  • 60 g butter, soft or margarine
  • 200 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 egg(s), size M
  • 1 pack of poppy seed cake
  • Almond(s)
  • Cinnamon
  • vanilla sugar
  • Cake icing (powdered sugar icing)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Knead the first 7 ingredients into a yeast dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes. Then roll the dough out into a rectangle. Spread poppy seed flour on the dough and sprinkle with flaked almonds, cinnamon, etc., if desired. Unroll the dough and cut the roll lengthwise. Twist the dough into a rope and place it in a large bread pan or loaf pan lined with baking paper. Then cover and let rise for another 10 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) for 35 minutes. Once cooled, cover with icing sugar or sprinkle with icing sugar.
