Poppy seed dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 oranges
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 50 g sugar
  • 750 g Schupfnudeln (from the refrigerated counter or homemade)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 125 g poppy seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel 5 oranges with a sharp knife, removing the white pith. Cut out the fruit segments between the membranes and collect the juice. Squeeze the remaining orange. Mix the cornstarch with a little of the orange juice until smooth. Heat the orange juice with the sugar, stir in the cornstarch, and bring to a boil. Add the orange segments and warm briefly in the sauce. Fry the potato dumplings in hot butter in a pan until golden brown. Add the poppy seeds to the pan, stir in, and warm briefly. Serve the poppy seed potato dumplings with the orange compote on plates.
