Poppy Seed Stick
The perfect poppy seed stick recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 packet Dry yeast
- 0,25 liter Lukewarm water
- 500 g Wheat flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- For brushing:
- Milk
- To sprinkle:
- Poppy
- Mix the yeast with a little lukewarm water as instructed and let rise for about 10 minutes.
- Put the flour, salt and remaining water in a bowl, spread the yeast over it and knead everything until the dough loosens from the edge of the bowl. Dust the dough with flour and cover and let rise in a warm place for 60 minutes.
- Then divide the dough into 6 equal pieces on a baking board. Roll these out thinly with a rolling pin and twist them into sticks. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and let rise for another 10 minutes.
- Brush with milk and sprinkle poppy seeds on top. Bake at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes.
