Pork strips with apples

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 g pork fillet(s)
  • 3 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 m.-sized carrot(s)
  • 4 medium-sized apples, sweet and sour
  • 5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 bay leaves
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes; Total time approx. 3 hours 35 minutes

In the oven

Cut the pork fillet into thin strips. Finely chop the garlic. Peel, quarter, and finely slice the onion. Peel and coarsely grate the carrot. Combine the meat and vegetables in a glass jar with 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, olive oil, sugar, pepper, and bay leaves. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Then remove the bay leaves and stir everything again. Peel and eighth the apples, core the apple slices, and arrange them on top of the meat. Drizzle with the remaining soy sauce and dust with paprika. Cover and braise in the oven at 200°C (top and bottom heat) or 180°C (fan oven) for 15 minutes. Then cook uncovered for another 60 minutes at 180°C (top and bottom heat) or 160°C (fan oven). Best served with rice.
