Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 20 g yeast
  • 400 g flour
  • 200 g sausage, Portuguese (Chouriço, garlic sausage with paprika)
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Crumble the yeast and dissolve it in 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water. Mix the flour and salt, then knead well with the yeast starter and about 330 ml of lukewarm water. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes. Finely dice the sausage. Knead the dough again on a floured surface, then fold in the sausage. Shape into a round loaf, place on a prepared baking sheet, and let rise for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit). Bake the bread for about 30 minutes, placing a bowl of boiling water in the oven for the first 15 minutes. Remove the finished bread from the baking sheet and let it cool on a wire rack.
