Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 ml water
  • 1 sachet of mashed potatoes with bacon & onions
  • 300 g flour
  • 30 g yeast
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 cup crème fraîche with herbs
  • 4 tbsp water, lukewarm
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 60 g walnuts, chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the mashed potatoes. Let cool slightly. Knead the flour into the potato mixture. Make a well in the dough. Crumble the yeast, mix it with the sugar, herb crème fraîche, and water, pour it into the well, and let it rise, covered, in a draft-free place. Add the salt and walnuts and knead the dough thoroughly. Line a loaf pan with baking paper, pour in the dough, brush with water, and score it with a knife. Bake in a preheated oven (200°C) for about 40 minutes.
