Potato pancakes with white sausage and cheese topping

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 g potato(s), waxy
  • 2 onions
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 2 tbsp, heaped flour
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 4 white sausages
  • 120 g Emmental or Allgäu cheese, grated
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel and wash the potatoes. Peel the onions and finely grate them with the potatoes. Mix in the egg and flour and season well with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat the oil and fry the potato mixture in batches until golden brown. Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Peel the sausages, cut them into thin slices, and arrange them on top of the potatoes. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the potatoes and bake in the oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Serve garnished with herbs, if desired. You can also use ready-made batter and simply spice it up a bit if you’re in a hurry.
