Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg potato(s), waxy
  • 1 jar cucumber sticks
  • 3 fish fillets (matjes)
  • ½ ring/s of meat sausage
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 pack of meat salad
  • 1 class jar of crème fraîche or mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Silesian-style potato salad

Cook the waxy potatoes in a pot of boiling water, let cool, and finely dice. Finely dice the sausage, cucumber sticks, onions, and herring; this will allow the salad to infuse its flavor more quickly. Add the potatoes and meat salad, along with the crème fraîche. The amount of crème fraîche should be adjusted to your individual needs and tolerance. Mix everything thoroughly, adding a little salt, 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil as needed. Mix everything thoroughly, and let the salad marinate for 3-4 hours to allow the flavor to develop. If well refrigerated, the salad will keep for up to 3 days.
