Prickly pear and apple jam

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 g prickly pear(s), cleaned and weighed
  • 600 g apples, preferably Elstar, peeled and pitted
  • 1 pack of gelling sugar 2:1

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 34 minutes

Peel the prickly pears (it’s best to wear gloves because of the fine spines), chop them into small pieces, and place them in a saucepan. Peel, core, and dice the apples. Add the apple pieces to the prickly pears, add the gelling sugar, and let stand until the juice has formed. Then puree the fruit. Bring to a boil and simmer for 4 minutes. Pour the jam into jars and seal tightly.
