Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg fig(s) (cactus)
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 500 g gelling sugar, 2:1

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the prickly pears (careful: wear gloves, as the skin has small spines), cut into pieces, and puree in a blender. Pass through a sieve. The puree should yield about 1 kg. Add the juice of 1 lemon. Mix with the gelling sugar and cook according to the package instructions. Fill boiled jars to the brim. Seal immediately. Makes about 5 jars. Peel the prickly pears: Cut off the top and bottom skin, then cut the skin open lengthwise and pull a piece of the flesh out.
