crispy bites with spicy cream cheese and spinach filling

Finely chop the shallots and spinach leaves and sauté them in olive oil in a pan over low heat. Grate the garlic and add it. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Meanwhile, remove the puff pastry from the refrigerator and roll it out. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Once the spinach and onion mixture has cooled slightly, stir in the cream cheese and season the mixture well. Tip: Use salt, pepper, nutmeg, lovage, basil, and paprika, for example. Spread the cream cheese and spinach mixture over the puff pastry. Roll the puff pastry up from both long sides towards the center. Brush the surface with water and sprinkle with a 1:1 mixture of white and black sesame seeds. Cut the roll into pieces about a finger’s width apart and press into a heart shape. Place the puff pastry hearts on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Enough for about 15 hearts.
