Puff Pastry Rolls with Basil & Feta Cheese
The perfect puff pastry rolls with basil & feta cheese recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
For the paste:
- 0,75 pot Basil
- 125 g Feta cheese
- 2 tbsp Ajvar mild
- 2 tbsp Ground almonds
- 3 tbsp Paprika strips, glass, drained
- 3 turns Colorful pepper from the mill
- 0,5 Teaspoon (level) Sweet paprika powder
- 1 pinch Sugar
For gratinating:
- 30 g Pecorino
Aside from that:
- 1 piece Parchment paper
- Take the puff pastry out of the refrigerator, unroll it and let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse and drain the basil leaves. Put the basil, feta cheese, ajvar, almonds, paprika strips, pepper, paprika powder and sugar in the food processor and puree finely.
- Spread the mixture on the puff pastry and smooth it out, leaving approx. 1 cm free from the edge. Roll up the puff pastry tightly from the long side, cut into approx. 1 cm thick slices and shape slightly. Place with a little space on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Finely grate the pecorino cheese and sprinkle it over the puff pastry rolls. Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes. Let cool slightly and serve lukewarm. Bon appetit and have fun baking :-)).
- The puff pastry rolls were part of our small New Year’s Eve buffet, which I always prepare under a different motto, this time Mediterranean cuisine. On New Year’s Day there is always the leftovers :-))).
