Pumpkin, Turkish style

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 m.-large pumpkin(s)
  • 300 g sugar
  • 200 g walnuts

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the pumpkin and cut into thin slices (about 1 cm thick). Layer the slices in a wide saucepan, alternating with walnuts and sugar. Finally, cover with a layer of sugar. The sugar amount is only a guideline! The pumpkin simply needs to be well coated with sugar. Heat the pumpkin over medium heat and cook with the lid closed until soft. (This may vary depending on the pumpkin.) A delicious layer of caramel will form on the bottom of the pan. Enjoy warm or, even better, cold.
