Quark Balls (Mutzen)

The perfect quark balls (mutzen) recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Flour
  • 500 g Lowfat quark
  • 5 Eggs
  • 10 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet Baking powder
  • 1 kg Coconut oil
  1. Beat the quark with the eggs until frothy. Add the sugar and vanilla sugar. Mix the flour and baking powder and stir in slowly.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a saucepan, but not too hot, otherwise the quark balls will burn immediately. I take 2 tablespoons and take a flat tablespoon full of batter, and slide it into the hot fat with the second spoon. Then bake the balls golden yellow / light brown. Drain the finished balls on kitchen paper. Then wilt in powdered sugar. In winter I mix some cinnamon with the powdered sugar. The quark balls also taste delicious with raisins in the batter or small apple pieces. The amount is about 35-40 pieces
