Quark dish from East Westphalia

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g quark
  • 2 bags of vanilla sugar
  • 1 bottle of rum flavoring
  • n. B. sugar
  • e.g. milk
  • 50 g pumpernickel
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 1 jar morello cherries

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Mix the quark with vanilla sugar, rum flavoring, sugar, and milk until smooth. Drain the morello cherries in a sieve and let them drain well. Meanwhile, crumble the pumpernickel. Grate or chop the chocolate and mix with the bread. Then layer everything in a glass bowl, starting with the quark cream, then the chocolate-pumpernickel mixture, then the morello cherries, and repeat until all is used up. Tastes best when it’s been allowed to sit for a while.
