Quick vegetarian gravy

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 onions, red
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 sprig(s) rosemary, fresh
  • 200 ml dark beer
  • 300 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp plum jam
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Finely slice the onions. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions with the rosemary over high heat. Season with salt and pepper. When they begin to brown, dust with flour and quickly stir it in. Stir in the plum jam and Worcestershire sauce and deglaze with the dark beer and vegetable stock. Simmer the sauce over medium heat until reduced to the desired consistency. Finally, season with salt and pepper. If you don’t want to eat the onions, you can strain the sauce through a sieve; however, we like to eat them, so we leave them in the sauce.
