Apple-walnut crust solo also goes well with ice cream.
Wash and core the apples, then slice them into thin strips with the peel. Toss with sugar, drizzle with lemon juice, and set aside. Chop the walnuts and crumble them with oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, sour cream, and butter. Cook the rice pudding according to the package instructions and preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the rice pudding into a shallow baking dish, arrange the apples on top, and cover with the crumble mixture. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180°C (350°F). You can also make the apple and walnut crust without rice pudding; it tastes delicious served hot with vanilla ice cream.
