Roasting coffee properly requires proper preparation, such as choosing the right coffee beans. The roasting process itself is not particularly complicated. There are 4 types of roasted coffee:
- Light Roast: This type of coffee roast is typical for milder varieties.
- Medium roast: This coffee has a slightly more intense taste.
- Medium Roast: This type of coffee has a rich and slightly bittersweet taste.
- Dark Roast: These beans tend to have a strong flavor and are commonly used for espresso.
Roast coffee in the oven
There are several ways to roast coffee beans at home. Above all, however, offers the oven.
- On high heat, turn your oven on to preheat before placing the beans on top.
- There is no specific temperature, but it should be between 250 and 280 degrees.
- A significant amount of smoke forms in the oven when baking, so good ventilation is recommended.
- Pay attention to the coffee beans when baking.
- Usually in the first 5 minutes, the first cracks appear in the coffee beans, which is a sign of the first degree of roasting or light roasting.
- The second crack in the coffee breaks out after a few minutes and your coffee reaches the medium roast.
- You can experiment a bit with the roasting of the beans to find your preferred roast.
- When you notice that the coffee is roasted well to your liking, let the beans cool on a piece of baking paper.
