Roast pork basic recipe

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg pork loin(s), (salmon, back)
  • 1 kg onion(s)
  • 800 ml meat broth
  • oil
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

Pot roast without frills

Peel the onions and dice roughly. Prepare 1 liter of broth. Heat a little oil in a pot and sear the unseasoned roast pork until golden brown. Deglaze with the broth. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cover the pot and simmer the roast for 1.5–2 hours at low heat. Add a little more broth if needed. When the meat is tender, remove the roast and cut into thin slices. Arrange these on a meat platter. Season the sauce to taste and serve separately. Serve with boiled potatoes, tagliatelle, or spaetzle. A simple and tasty dish that’s great on Sundays, too.
