Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 120 g rusks
  • 30 g butter
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 720 g applesauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 day 16 hours; Total time approx. 1 day 16 hours 20 minutes

very old-fashioned, delicious!

Brush the onions with butter, place in a greased baking dish, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Whisk the milk, sugar, vanilla sugar, and egg yolk together and pour over the onions. Let them soften. Spread the applesauce on top. Beat the egg whites with the sugar until stiff peaks form and spread over the casserole. Bake at 180°C (fan oven) for about 15 minutes. Enjoy warm!
