- 4 eggs
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 250 g flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 150 g nuts or almonds, ground
- ½ bar of milk chocolate, grated
- e.g. powdered sugar
- Fat and breadcrumbs for the form
Instructions
Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 55 minutes
Grate or dice approximately 800g of apples, pour over 4-6 tablespoons of rum, and let stand. Cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs until fluffy. Stir the cocoa powder, cinnamon, flour, baking powder, ground nuts or almonds, and grated milk chocolate (I use dark dessert chocolate and chop it with a knife) into the butter mixture. Finally, stir in the apples. Grease a 26cm springform pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs, then pour in the batter. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C – 180°C (top/bottom heat) for approximately 60-70 minutes. Tips: Once cooled, either spread a thin layer of whipped cream or drizzle with chocolate glaze. I only sprinkle it with powdered sugar. Last year, I used gingerbread spice instead of cinnamon, slightly less than cinnamon.
