Sage paste – herbal spice paste

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 tbsp sage, chopped fresh
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 tbsp salt, coarse
  • 1 tbsp pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 little lemon peel, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

with gnocchi, pasta, potatoes, as a grilled meat seasoning

Grind sage, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon zest into a paste. This herb and spice paste can be eaten with gnocchi, pasta, and rice. It’s also delicious rubbed onto grilled or roasted meat. Baked potatoes are also delicious with it. Rosemary or similar herbs can also be used for the paste. Or a mixture of sage and rosemary, for example. If a side dish (gnocchi, pasta, etc.) is eaten as the only main course, double the quantity for 4 people. If there is any leftover, put the paste in a screw-top jar and store in the refrigerator. The sage spice paste can also be used as a base for sauces and dressings.
