Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 egg whites
- 50 g sugar, fine
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 20 g flour
- 40 g butter
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat). Beat the egg whites until stiff, then briefly stir in the sugar and vanilla sugar. Take 3 tablespoons of egg whites, mix them with the egg yolks, and then add them back to the egg whites. Sift the flour over the egg whites and gently mix everything together. Melt the butter in a shallow, ovenproof dish. Scoop out the dumplings and place them in the dish. Bake in the preheated oven at high heat for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately, taking care to avoid drafts and sudden temperature changes (they will shrink slightly but will still taste delicious). Sprinkle the finished dumplings with powdered sugar or vanilla sugar, if desired.
