Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp cane sugar (Goela Djawa)
  • ½ tsp sambal oelek
  • ¼ tsp shrimp paste (trassi)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp Ketjap Manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • some water if needed

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Sauté finely chopped onion and garlic cloves in oil. Add brown sugar, sambal oelek, shrimp paste, and salt. Then add the ketjap manis and peanut butter. If the consistency is too thick, add a little water as needed.
