Ingredients for 4 servings:
- ½ m.-sized onion(s), finely chopped
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp, heaped relish or chopped pickled cucumbers
- 8 sausages (hot dogs or wieners)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- salt and pepper
- chili
Instructions
Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Sauté half an onion in a pan until golden brown. Then reduce the heat to low. Add the relish, sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and seasoning and stir everything into a sauce. Place the hot dogs in the sauce and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. Serve the hot dogs in baked hot dog buns. A very, very simple recipe from my American grandmother.
