Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 onions, red
  • 3 bell peppers, mixed, one of each color
  • 4 medium-sized gherkins
  • 150 g mountain cheese
  • 200 g sausage (mortadella), preferably with paprika, or meat sausage
  • 5 tbsp white wine vinegar, or as desired
  • 2 tbsp mustard, sweet
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bunch of chives

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the salad ingredients into equal-sized strips. Halve the onions and cut into very thin strips or rings. Halve the bell peppers, wash them, deseed them, and also cut the outside into thin strips. Halve the gherkins lengthwise and cut lengthwise into thin strips, or halve them widthwise if necessary. Halve the mountain cheese and mortadella crosswise and then also cut into thin strips, and cut the chives into small rolls. Put everything in a large bowl. Put all the dressing ingredients in a screw-top jar. Shake vigorously and pour over the salad. It’s best to stir well with your hands to mix the ingredients. You can eat it straight away or (if you can still bear it) refrigerate and let it sit. Also ideal for parties. It’s always gone in no time. Baguette goes well with it, but pretzels or brown bread also work well.
