Schnitzel – Burger

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork schnitzels (60 g each)
  • 4 rolls (hamburger buns)
  • 8 lettuce leaves (romaine lettuce)
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 gherkins
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Breadcrumbs for coating
  • 2 onions
  • 100 g mayonnaise (delicacy mayonnaise)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • some lemon juice
  • salt and pepper
  • Sugar
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cut the hamburger buns in half crosswise. Peel the onions and slice them. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and fry the onion slices until golden brown. Then remove the onions from the pan and set aside. Mix the mayonnaise with lemon juice, mustard, salt, pepper, and a little sugar to make a sauce and set aside. Slice the gherkins lengthwise. Wash the tomatoes and also slice them. Wash the lettuce leaves and shake them dry. Crack the egg onto a flat plate and beat it vigorously with a fork. Season the breadcrumbs generously with salt, pepper, and paprika and place them on a second plate. Wash the schnitzel, pat it dry, and coat it first in the egg and then in the seasoned breadcrumbs. Add the remaining oil to the pan, heat it, and fry the schnitzel on both sides until crispy and brown. Spread the mayo sauce on the bottom halves of the buns, top each with two lettuce leaves, then top with the schnitzel, tomato and cucumber slices, and finally the fried onions. Top with a spoonful of mayo sauce and ketchup, then cover with the top halves of the buns. You may want to secure these with wooden skewers to prevent the burgers from sliding apart.
