Scientists Explain Whether Drinking Coffee is Dangerous for the Heart

During the study, researchers analyzed data from more than 386 thousand people who participated in a long-term health study in the UK.

Coffee does not increase the risk of arrhythmia in most people. On the contrary, it can slow the heart rate. This conclusion was reached by scientists at the University of California, San Francisco.

According to the scientists, the results of the study confirm the safety of coffee and refute the unfounded dogma that it contributes to cardiac disorders. Experts have demonstrated that each additional cup of coffee a person drinks daily can reduce the risk of arrhythmia by an average of about three percent.

To do this, they analyzed data from more than 386 thousand people who participated in a long-term health study in the UK. Of this number, about 17 thousand people developed heart rhythm disorders in an average of 4.5 years. All participants were surveyed about the amount of coffee they consumed.
