A new question to an age-old answer – is chocolate good for women? Or, on the contrary, does this sweet product pose a threat to their health? Scientists have answered.

Eating chocolate in the morning has proven to be beneficial for the body. The researchers proved that postmenopausal women lose weight more easily and blood sugar levels decrease if they allow themselves some dairy treats for breakfast.

Experts conducted an experiment involving 19 postmenopausal women. For 14 days, some of them ate their usual foods, others ate 100 grams of milk chocolate within an hour of waking up, and others ate an hour before bedtime.

Those who ate the sweet product in the morning did not gain weight, and their appetite control, gut microbiota composition, and other indicators improved. Women also had a decrease in waist size and blood glucose levels during the day. The evening chocolate intake increased physical activity the next day by an average of 6.9 percent. In addition, women who ate the treat at night had a reduced appetite and cravings for sweets.
