Serbian sausages

Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 3 large bell peppers, red, yellow, green
  • 200 g bacon or Black Forest ham
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 bottle of ketchup
  • 10 sausages, Franconian, or grilled sausages
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 3 tsp oregano
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Lightly fry the bacon. Slice the onions and bell peppers, chop the garlic, add everything, and sauté with the lid closed. The bell peppers should still be slightly crunchy. Meanwhile, fry the sausages. Add the ketchup to the vegetables and bring to a boil. If the sauce is too thick, thin with a little water. Season the sauce with the spices and add the stock cube. Add the sausages and the cooking fat and simmer gently for another 5 minutes. Serve with rice or just plain white bread.
