Shepherd's Pie with mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g mushrooms
  • 750 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • 250 ml milk
  • 750 ml water
  • 2 sachets of mashed potato powder (each for 375 ml water and 125 ml milk)
  • nutmeg
  • 15 g butter
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 75 g cheese (e.g. Cheddar or Gouda), grated
  • ½ bunch chives
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Halve or quarter the mushrooms as desired. Crumble the minced meat. Heat the oil and fry the minced meat and mushrooms, stirring occasionally. Roughly dice the onion, chop the garlic, and add to the minced meat, then fry. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Bring 750 ml of water and salt to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat, add the milk, stir in the puree powder, and let stand for 1 minute. Stir again and season with salt, nutmeg, and butter. Stir the tomato paste into the minced meat mixture. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and paprika. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Spread the puree on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (175°C fan-assisted oven) for approx. 15-20 minutes. Finely chop the chives. Remove the casserole from the oven and serve sprinkled with chives.
