Traditional recipe for the baking tray
For the dough, combine the first 6 ingredients and finally stir in the flour and baking powder (knead by hand if necessary). Line a greased baking sheet with the mixture. For the filling, grate the apples and sauté them in a saucepan with a little water. Season with cinnamon and sugar to taste. For the crumble, knead the butter, sugar, flour, and vanilla sugar together until the dough is no longer sticky and can be formed into a ball; more flour may be needed. Once the apple mixture has cooled, spread it over the raw dough on the baking sheet. Spread the crumble on top in small pieces. Flatten a little of the crumble dough slightly and place it on the cake, covering the entire cake. Bake for approximately 45 minutes at 180°C fan-assisted oven or 50-60 minutes at 200°C conventional oven. Serve lukewarm with whipped cream. Tip: If you make the cake in winter, you can add more cinnamon and maybe raisins and almond slivers, etc.
