Soda Bread

The perfect soda bread recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 350 g Spelled flour
  • 150 g Whole wheat flour
  • 75 g Oatmeal
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 25 g Butter half-fat – milk half-fat, soft
  • 400 ml Buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees!

  1. Mix the flour with the oatmeal, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  2. Knead the butter and buttermilk with the flour mixture using a mixer until a nice dough is formed! Is a little stickier without yeast!
  3. Then shape a loaf with floury hands and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Cut a cross into the bread with a sharp knife.
  4. Sprinkle with a little more flour or seeds and bake for about 40 minutes.
  5. Bread is ready when it sounds hollow when you knock on it!
