Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 kg bush beans
  • 2 ½ liters of water
  • ½ liter herbal vinegar, 10% acid, e.g. from Born
  • 220 g sugar
  • 1 handful of salt
  • 4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 15 peppercorns
  • 2 onions
  • a few sprigs of dill
  • a few stalks of savory

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

delicious alternative to pickles

Peel the onion and slice it into wedges. Trim and wash the beans, then cook them with all the ingredients except the savory for about 30 minutes. Place a few savory stalks in clean, sealable jars and pour the hot broth over the beans. Let it cool, maybe let it sit for a few days, and then enjoy. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the shelf life because we always eat them up very quickly.
