Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 cups of water
- 2 cups corn flour
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes
solid porridge made from corn flour
Boil water and add salt. Sprinkle in the cornflour. Reduce the heat and let the porridge simmer slightly, then stir. Then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes with the lid on, stirring occasionally. The pap should have a firm to crumbly consistency, making it easy to eat with your fingers. Note: Serve the pap with chakalaka (a type of spicy tomato soup), spinach, or beans. Eat it by scooping a lump of pap with your fingers and dipping it into your chosen sauce/vegetable (otherwise it will be too dry).
