Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 packs of herring fillet(s)
- 6 gherkins
- 1 apple
- n. B. Dill
- 1 large onion(s)
- 1 tbsp Miracel Whip, or mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream, or sour cream if you want the sauce to be creamier
- 500 ml milk
- salt and pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Mix the mayonnaise with the sour cream, pepper, and a little salt (the herring will be salty). Then add the milk and 4 tablespoons of pickle juice and stir until smooth. Cut the gherkins and onions into small cubes and add them. Remove the herring from the package, remove any oil with a paper towel, and add them to the sauce. Before serving, peel and core the apple, then grate it into a puree. Add it to the sauce with the dill and season to taste. This tastes best with boiled potatoes. The flavor will be more intense if you let the pickled herring stand in a cool place overnight. But again, only add the apple and dill before serving.
