Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 m.-sized onion(s)
- 1 tbsp oil, neutral
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 150 g butter, room temperature
- 80 g cream cheese
- 1 garlic clove(s)
- ½ bunch of dill
- ½ bunch chives
- 50 g cranberry jam
- 1 pinch(s) of caraway powder
- 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
- salt and pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 25 minutes
Peel and finely dice the onion. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the diced onion until translucent. Add the sugar and let it caramelize slightly; the diced onions should be lightly browned. Let everything cool. Peel and finely chop the garlic. Finely chop the dill and cut the chives into small rings. Cream the butter to room temperature. Stir in the cream cheese. Stir in the garlic, herbs, jam, diced onion, and spices. Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Refrigerate the spread for 1-2 hours. Garnish with herbs, sliced radishes or cucumbers, strips of bell pepper, or cherry tomatoes. Tip: Tastes great on dark baked goods.
