Stock: Apple Chutney
The perfect stock: apple chutney recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 200 g Onion
- 300 ml Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 teaspoon Yellow mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
- 1 piece Cinnamon stick
- 0,25 teaspoon Freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Rock salt
- 200 g Sugar
- 700 g Apple wedges
- This amount is sufficient for four glasses of 250 ml each
- Peel and finely dice the onions.
- Bring the mustard seeds, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and sugar to the boil along with the diced onions and apple cider vinegar. Lower the temperature and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Peel the apples, remove the core and cut the apples into fine wedges. Add to the vinegar and simmer again for about 10 minutes.
- Pour into hot rinsed screw cap jars and let cool upside down.
- This chutney is suitable as an accompaniment to cheese, grilled meat or as a condiment for a fruity sauce
