Especially when baking, you often have to separate the yolk from the egg white. In this home tip, we will tell you how best to store egg yolks in the kitchen.
Store the egg yolk correctly – that’s how it works
To store egg yolk properly, you need an ice cube mold and tasteless vegetable fat.
- Brush the mold lightly with the vegetable fat and fill the mold with the egg yolk.
- You can then simply place the egg yolk in the ice cube tray in the freezer and freeze it. The yolk will keep for another two to three weeks.
- If you want to thaw the egg yolk again, simply take it out of the freezer and let it liquefy at room temperature.
- Tip: This trick also works with egg whites.
