Strawberries in the Fridge: You Should Avoid These 3 Mistakes

Strawberries in the fridge – how to store the fruit correctly

Buy strawberries that are as fresh as possible in the first place, because this way your strawberries will last longer. With the right storage method, the fruit will keep in the refrigerator for two to three days.

  • Do not wash the fruit beforehand, as this can cause the strawberries to mold more quickly and also lose some of their aroma.
  • Do not remove the stems and leaves directly, but just before eating. However, bruises and stains should be cut away immediately.
  • Don’t store the strawberries in one of the top compartments of the fridge, but use the vegetable compartment at the bottom.
  • Extra tip: line the bottom of a bowl with paper towels and place the fruit in there. This allows air to get to the berries and the paper absorbs excess moisture. A sieve is also suitable for storing berries.
