Strawberry salad with basil

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g strawberries
  • 1 bunch of basil
  • 4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • Pepper from the mill

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Wash the strawberries and let them dry on paper towels, then cut them into quarters or slices. Wash the basil, pat it dry, and cut it into strips. Add it to the strawberries. Stir in the balsamic vinegar, sugar, and pepper to taste. Refrigerate the salad briefly, if necessary. Unfortunately, the salad quickly starts to look dark, as the color from the strawberries soaks into the basil leaves—but it actually tastes even better after a night in the fridge.
