Streussel Cake with Sour Cherries

The perfect streussel cake with sour cherries recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 350 g Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 300 g Mazipan
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 2 heaped Food starch
  • 400 g Sour cherries
  • 50 ml Sour cherry juice
  • 1 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  1. Coarsely grate the Mazipan, put the flour, sugar, egg, salt, baking powder and the butter in pieces in a bowl and use the hand mixer to make crumbles / dough
  2. Grease a 24 cm baking pan and line 2/3 of the dough with it and pull up a 2 – 3 cm high rim. Chill the rest of the batter and the baking pan.
  3. Mix the sour cherry juice and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add the sour cherries and bring to the boil. Take the pot off the stove and let it cool off.
  4. Take the baking pan and the Steussel out of the refrigerator and sprinkle the pastry in the pan with the parnier flour. Spread the cherries on top and sprinkle with Sreusseln.
  5. Bake at 190 degrees for 35 – 40 minutes. Then let it cool off.
  6. 6th tip – in picture 3 I used a quarter baking pan – then only use 1/4 of the dough-
