Saxon party recipe

Remove the Leberkäse from the skin and make a wedge-shaped cut lengthwise, about half the diameter. Mix the butter, herbs, and garlic (optional) to make a herb butter. Pour this butter, about 1-2 cm thick, into the cut (you usually don’t need all of it). Wrap the Leberkäse whole tightly in aluminum foil, leaving the seal above the butter. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, then open the foil slightly and let the surface brown. To serve, push the foil down the sides a bit and serve the Leberkäse slices. It goes well with a simple potato salad or bread. Saxon Leberkäse is sold like a sausage in its skin. It is available in various sizes – here at discount stores it is also packaged in 500 g packs. This recipe also works for smaller quantities.
