Stuffed ciabatta

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 bunch of basil if desired
  • 1 large ciabatta, approx. 400 g
  • 2 tbsp butter (garlic butter)
  • 400 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 150g mozzarella
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Preheat oven to 200°C. Cut a flat, wide wedge into the top of the ciabatta. Brush the indentation with garlic butter. Dice the cut-out bread and mix with the minced meat, onion, 2/3 of the basil, and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the mixture into the cut indentation. Place the ciabatta on a baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, wash the tomatoes and slice them with the mozzarella. Spread them alternately on the bread. Sprinkle with the remaining basil, salt, and pepper, and drizzle with a little olive oil. Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes. Serve hot.
