Stuffed meatloaf with cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat (beef), alternatively mixed
  • 1 roll, stale
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp herbs de Provence
  • 200 g cheese (Gouda) in one piece
  • 1 kg potatoes, waxy
  • 250 ml cream
  • nutmeg
  • Salt
  • pepper, black

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Soak the bread roll in water, squeeze out excess water, and mix with the minced meat and egg. Season the meat mixture generously with nutmeg, pepper, and salt, and season to taste. Cut the cheese into thick blocks and place them in the center of the meat. Shape into a flat, oblong loaf and enclose the cheese in the meat mixture. Place in a buttered baking dish and sprinkle with herbs. Boil the potatoes with their skins on, peel them, and cut them into thin slices. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and arrange them around the meatloaf. Pour the cream over the potatoes. Roast in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 60 minutes. Serve with peas and roots, green beans, or broccoli.
