Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 50 g hazelnuts, finely chopped
  • 150 g margarine
  • 1 m.-sized egg(s)
  • 300 g flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 jars of sugar (200 ml jars)
  • 1 ½ glasses of water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Turkish cookies

Melt the margarine and let it cool to lukewarm. Mix the egg and powdered sugar in a bowl. Add the margarine, salt, flour, hazelnuts, and baking powder and knead. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes. For the syrup, heat the sugar and water in a saucepan. When it starts to boil, add the lemon juice and let it cool. Divide the dough into walnut-sized pieces, roll into balls, and flatten slightly. Place on a greased baking sheet and press in the center with your finger. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C until golden brown. Immediately pour the cooled syrup over the baked coins, turn over, and wait until it is all absorbed. Serve cold.
