Sulf

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ liter of milk
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 5 eggs

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Sulf is a glaze that can be used as a topping over fruit, quark and poppy seed cakes

Take about 1/8 liter of the milk and mix it with the flour. Bring the remaining milk and sugar to a boil (do not stir, the sugar prevents the milk from burning), stir in the mixed flour and bring to a boil. The mixture should be similar to pudding, not too thick, but it should not run off the spoon. Let it cool slightly and taste to see if it is sweet enough. Separate the eggs. Stir in the egg yolks one at a time, finally fold in the beaten egg whites. This amount is enough for one baking tray. I use half for a springform pan; if I am baking poppy seed cake or quark cake, I need a little less. You may need to use a little less or a little more flour; it often depends on the flour. My grandmother, my mother and I sprinkle sugar over the sulfite when we take the cake out of the oven; it is delicious.
