Sun Pie

The perfect sun pie recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

*** DOUGH ***

  • 500 g Flour
  • 100 g Melt butter
  • 0,5 Cup Oil
  • 0,5 Cup Water
  • 1 pinch Salt

*** FILLING ***

  • 1 Leek
  • 2 Garlic cloves chopped
  • 200 g Quark
  • 150 g Crumbled feta
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 packet Italian HERBS TK.
  • Salt
  • Pepper

*** Aside from that ***

  • Breadcrumbs
  • Olive oil
  • Sunflower seeds fresh
  1. The dough: put butter, oil, water and salt in a bowl. Gradually add the flour while stirring until a soft dough is formed that loosens easily from the shell. Put aside.
  2. Cut the leek into fine rings, chop the garlic. Steam both in a little oil over low heat until the leek is soft.
  3. Mix the quark, crumbled feta, egg, herbs, leek and a little salt and pepper in a bowl. If the mixture is too runny, add some breadcrumbs until the mixture is firm enough to be shaped into a “sausage”.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Roll out each piece into an approx. 30 cm circle.
  5. Place a circle on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Scatter some breadcrumbs in the middle and around the edge (this prevents the dough from getting damp from the filling).
  6. Place about 1/3 of the filling compound in the center of the circle. Shape the remaining filling into a “sausage” (about 3-4 cm thick) and place around the edge on top of the breadcrumbs.
  7. Now cover with the second dough circle. In the middle, just above the filling, place an upside-down cereal bowl and press down a little until the two doughs join together (so that the filling does not leak). Seal the edges well (you can also do this with a fork).
  8. Now cut the pie from the edge up to approx. 1 cm to the cereal bowl in approx. 21-23 pieces, approx. 3-4 cm thick. Carefully turn each incised piece (whether to the left or right, but all should be turned in the same direction) until the pieces are almost vertical.
  9. Remove the cereal bowl, brush the middle piece with a little olive oil and sprinkle with some sunflower seeds. The kernels must be pressed lightly onto the dough, otherwise they will not stick.
  10. Put the pie in the oven preheated to 180 * C and bake for about 20-25 minutes.
  11. TA … DA … DA … DAAAAAA !!!
